The Somali Midwives Association (SOMA) recently conducted a vital Community Outreach Program aimed at supporting expectant and nursing mothers in the outskirts of Mogadishu. This impactful initiative sought to raise awareness about the importance of maternal health and the role of healthcare facilities in ensuring safe pregnancies and deliveries.
The event saw the participation of numerous mothers, who received critical guidance on prenatal care, childbirth preparation, and postnatal health. Midwives emphasized the value of regular checkups during pregnancy, proper nutrition, and staying connected to healthcare facilities for a safer and healthier journey to motherhood.
As part of the outreach, SOMA midwives provided tailored medical care, offering medicines that support the health of both mother and child. They assessed each mother’s specific needs, ensuring personalized attention and appropriate treatment for all.
This program underscores SOMA’s unwavering commitment to creating a future where no mother or baby faces preventable health risks. Such initiatives not only improve individual lives but also foster stronger, healthier communities.
Together, we can achieve healthier motherhood and childhood for Somalia.
